AUSTAR Mobile Fair Go Policy
The AUSTAR Mobile Fair Go policy aims to ensure that we are able to provide quality service to all our customers and that no one is disadvantaged by the behaviour of others. In particular, this policy applies to the following promotions and services, but may extend to other or future promotions or services, as determined by us from time to time.
Optus 'Yes' Time™
To ensure the availability of our service to all eligible customers, we may request excessive users of the Optus 'yes' Time™ promotion to reduce their use of these calls. If usage continues at an excessive level, then we may refuse access to 'yes' Time™ by that customer. The customer will then be charged us, standard rates for calls made during 'yes' Time™.
We currently consider 'excessive' use to be usage of more than 2,000 minutes per month per mobile phone.
In addition, we may suspend a customer's access to Optus 'yes' Time™ without notice where we deem that use to be unreasonable. An example of 'unreasonable use' might be where a customer sets up switch devices which overcome the time cap on the free calls, thus keeping a line open potentially for hours and limiting the ability for other customers to access the network.
Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Message Service (MMS)
The AUSTAR Fair Go policy applies to the AUSTAR Short Message Service (SMS) and AUSTAR Multimedia Message Service (MMS) for AUSTAR Mobile customers. To ensure the availability of the services to all eligible customers, we may request excessive users of SMS and MMS to reduce their use (outgoing or incoming) of these services. If usage continues at an excessive level, we may suspend the customer’s access.
Also, for any special promotional offers of SMS and MMS, we may request excessive users of the services under the special promotion to reduce their use (outgoing or incoming) of this service. For the period of the promotion, if usage continues at an excessive level, we may bill the customer the standard rates for all messages above the number defined as excessive usage.
We currently consider "excessive" use of SMS to be usage of more than 500 SMS sent per month per mobile phone. In addition, we may suspend a customer's access to AUSTAR SMS sent without notice where we deem that use to be unreasonable. An example of 'unreasonable use' might be where a customer is using the AUSTAR SMS sent service for commercial purposes for messaging based services thus limiting the ability for other customers to access the network.
We currently consider "excessive" use of MMS to be usage of more than 500 SMS sent per month per mobile phone.
We reserve the right to vary the AUSTAR Mobile Fair Go Policy without notice.
