SMS – Terms & conditions

You must have a compatible handset to send & receive SMS text messaging. We suggest you read your handset user manual for details on how to SMS. Sending, notification and reading messages differs between phones.

1. Standard SMS, Web SMS, Email SMS, Group SMS and International SMS are charged per message sent with up to 160 characters per recipient.
2. SMS messages are charged regardless of successful delivery.
3. It may take up to 8 days from the original send date for message charges to be applied.
4. Web SMS usage charges count towards the monthly included calls on AUSTAR Mobile Call Plans.
5. SMS may not be available between some GSM mobile phones. Please call us on 132 159 to confirm availability.

Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS - Terms and Conditions

1. To use Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS you must be an AUSTAR GSM mobile customer who is a registered Optus Zoo user.
2. Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS messages are charged regardless if successfully delivered or not.
3. It may take up to 8 days from the original send date for message charges to be applied.
4. Messages are charged per individual recipient.
5. Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS usage charges are eligible for inclusion in the monthly included calls of AUSTAR Mobile Call Plans.
6. There is no connection, access or registration fees to use Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS services.
7. Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS is not available to Optus Express, Boost, Ozitalk and MobileSat customers.
8. Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS cannot be sent by Optus prepaid and MobileSat customers.
9. Optus Prepaid customers can receive a Web SMS, Email SMS and Group SMS message.

SMS Chat Terms and Conditions

1. SMS Chat is available to AUSTAR GSM customers with SMS compatible mobile phones.
2. All SMS Chat messages are charged on sending, including those messages:
   1. sent to initially register for the service or to re-register following ‘exit ’ from the service;
   2. not delivered; or
   3. ignored by the receiving SMS Chat user.
3. AUSTAR mobile customers will be charged 25¢ per message sent of up to 160 characters. It may take up to eight days from the original send date for message charges to be applied.
4. AUSTAR accepts no liability for any loss or damage for customers using the SMS Chat service and bears no responsibility for message content, and recommends customers do not disclose their personal details (including their mobile phone number).
